Today’s Tarot Reading

tarot reading 12082015

The Lovers Reversed, Nine of Cups Reversed, Three of Swords Reversed

I did a little “Past, Present, Future” reading with my new-to-me deck, The Hanson-Roberts Tarot Deck (in the Rider Waite tradition) with these beautiful fairy-tale like illustrations.

I looked up the meanings at Biddy Tarot since the deck doesn’t come with its own guidebook.

I’m interpreting this little spread to mean that my past energies were me avoiding taking responsibility for myself, feelings of insecurity, and feeling out of synch.

My present energies are disappointed that my wishes aren’t materializing as hoped or expected (perhaps because I haven’t been taking responsibility for manifesting them!?!?!)

It’s also a reminder to kind of rein in the self-indulgence.  Distracting myself from what I really want with what LOOKS satisfying in the moment (free cookies everywhere).

So, the POSSIBLE energies coming my way look promising considering how kind of “meh” the first two cards are: processing pain and moving towards letting go and freedom.  Feel the feelings, don’t fight them with delicious distractions, and move through them in order to not stay “STUCK”.

Over at Biddy Tarot the questions asked  after the definition of the Three of Swords reversed are “In what ways am I suffering? What do I most feel sorrowful about? What can I do to release this pain and learn from it?”

I’m going to sit with these questions for a while and see if I have any real answers.  I don’t have a lot of clarity right now so I probably need to spend some quiet time with pen and paper.

Demeter Zodiac ~ new fragrances :: Now Smell This

I don’t know about you, but this actually sounds DELICIOUS to me:

Gemini ~ Moonbeam. “Demeter’s Moonbeam is a fascinating and unique “foody floral” that opens with hints of chocolate and vanilla, then combines green leaves, Jasmine, Lily of the Valley, Amber and precious Woods. Demeter’s Moonbeam captures the dual nature of the moonbeam, reflecting elements of both the innocence of light and the passion of night. Expressive and versatile, Moonbeam celebrates Gemini’s dual sign.”

Jewelry Gem & Mineral Show Haul

Stopped into the Jewelry Gem & Mineral Show at New Milford High School with an old friend and fellow rock-nut yesterday.

There was a TON of great stuff to look at and touch, and I met a crystal I had never heard of: Vanadinite.  Isn’t it funky?

Vanadinite

Vanadinite

I practiced marvelous restraint and only purchased the below:

Rock Show Haul - Fluorite, Dalmatian Jasper, Citrine Point

Rock Show Haul – Fluorite, Dalmatian Jasper, Citrine Point

Dalmatian Jasper is one of my newest obsessions, and maybe I’m drawn to it because I’ve been very much in my head lately.

According to HealingCrystals.com:

Dalmatian Jasper (also known as Dalmatian Stone) is a wonderful stone to work with           for those who are overly analytical. It helps the over-analyzer to ground and center all         bodies (physical, emotional, intellectual, etc.) to maintain balance and connection                 with the etheric energies. Dalmatian Stone is a stone of service. It can be used by those         in the Veterinary field to calm and soothe animals that are hurt and scared. It is a                 stone of service for all, reminding us that we can make a difference, no matter how               small or large the act.

Dalmatian Jasper helps to harmonize the emotions and assists in maintaining                       composure, even under the most difficult circumstances. Dalmatian Jasper is a                     wonderful piece to use when you want to review and reflect on past actions and                     decisions, so if a similar situation has presented itself, you will be prepared to make a           more informed choice.

Dalmatian Jasper cleanses the aura and any other dysfunctional energies,                               dispels/transmutes negative energy (due to the black Tourmaline inclusions), and                 protects the user from harm. Use Dalmatian Jasper when you are feeling down and               out. It will restore a sense of fun and childlike wonder — a true pick me up!

The next one is in Bristol, CT on October 17 & 18.  If I go, I will need to bring a little more money with me because there was LOTS of things I left behind because of budgetary reasons.

Is there a stone you keep being pulled to over and over?

Libra – Non A Split Personality, Just Seeking Balance…Constantly

If you were born between September 23 and October 22, then YOU are a Libra!

Gemini is the Air sign known for being talkative, but Libra can run a close second.  Libra can talk almost anyone into almost anything.  Libras intuitively know the “right” thing to say to someone in order to smooth ruffled feathers, get someone on their side, motivate someone to get involved, or buy an air conditioner for their igloo.

Venus is the natural ruler for Libra, so like their fellow Venusians, Taurus, Libras like beautiful things, beautiful people, the arts, design, and music.  Libras are constantly redecorating their house or rearranging their furniture.  It’s not that they are easily bored, it’s just that they were captivated by a sofa (or rug, or shelving unit, or antique writing desk) and now need to re-do the room so it is showcased the way it deserves to be.  Libras are clothes-horses – both genders.  Many end up in businesses that revolve around personal appearance: stylists, designers, personal trainers – they love beauty and they love to help create it.  Libras love spa services, movement classes (dance or yoga) and anything that is indulgent and comforting.

Libras are the last to understand that “life isn’t fair” and they think it SHOULD BE. They try to maintain fairness in all their dealings with people. They can almost always find a compromise.  They hate conflict, HATE IT, and while they are naturally strong-willed and honest people, they will gloss over some of their sharper feelings and often “go along to get along” because harmonious relationships mean a lot to them.

Libra is the natural ruler of the 7th House, the house of partnerships, romantic and business.  Libras are not loners – they’re very social and form good friendships and warm acquaintances, and really love to be “in love”.  Libras have had crushes on people since kindergarten or earlier.  They work well with others because they are masters at the art of compromise.  They make excellent lawyers or mediators.

Sometimes because Libra can see both sides of a situation, they can be the Devil’s Advocate.  If Libra is in a debate class, they wouldn’t have a problem arguing passionately for either side of the debate….it’s harder for them to make a choice with serious conviction. They can appear superficial because they change their minds so easily, but perhaps we should admire their open-mindedness. Unless they have some challenging aspects in their chart, Libra is the last person to get into a vicious flame-war on the internet because opinions and ideas aren’t more important than finding common ground to them.  Some Libras do tend to cling to being “right” and can be argumentative, but usually more about interpersonal stuff than “ideas”.

Being indecisive is a common Libra stereotype, but its not that Libras are wishy-washy: Libras fear being trapped by making a decision and need to know that they have an escape route in case going all in on a choice ends up making them unhappy.  Libras can commit in relationships, but can become bored if their partner starts to take them for granted and stops taking care of their physical appearance or lets the romance die.

Libra loves the beginning of relationships, the uncertainty and flirtation and the seduction is extremely powerful for them.  Once they’re committed to someone, they don’t always want that flirty seduction to stop with the one they love and can become insecure when the relationship evolves into something “comfortable”.  They need to know they’re desired.  They will sometimes flirt with others outside the relationship to get that feeling, but they are quite loyal and it won’t translate into cheating. They value their partnership, they just want to feel like they’re attractive to the whole world, not just their partner.  They need to reassure their partner sometimes, but will eventually resent someone who doesn’t trust them.  Libra prides themselves on their ethics.

Because they’re so friendly and charming, many people believe Libra is flirting with them even when they’re NOT – Libra can be shocked when they hear someone thought they were hitting on them. Libra doesn’t see their effect on others, and don’t always know how to turn it off.

Libra is an excellent listener, they’re quite compassionate and can come across as very non-judgmental (they usually keep their judgments to themselves, they want to get along!). They love to analyze things with their friends, their quick minds are always analyzing what is happening, but they’re not as detached as fellow Air sign Aquarius, their Cardinal nature keeps their heart in the game.

Libras can appear moody or unreliable, but they’re just seeking balance.  If they’re out whirlwind shopping and socializing with friends one day, they need to hole up with a book and turn their phone off the next.  If they study really hard one night, they’ll need to watch stupid movies or do something really physical. They tend to over-commit to people because they think they can do it all and don’t realize that they need to recharge their batteries, they’re not robots.  Libras rarely find the perfect balance in life (who does?) so they’re always adjusting and counter-adjusting.  It can be fun to watch or just jump in and ride along, they love to have someone riding shotgun.

Libra’s traditional birthstones are Sapphire(September) and Pink Tourmaline or Opal (October).  Other stones that enhance Libra’s energy are: Peridot, Ametrine, Bloodstone, Prehnite, Sunstone, and Tanzanite.

Sapphire, Pink Tourmaline, Opal, Peridot, Ametrine, Bloodstone, Prehnite, Sunstone, Tanzanite

Sapphire, Pink Tourmaline, Opal, Peridot, Ametrine, Bloodstone, Prehnite, Sunstone, Tanzanite

Stones that can help balance their Cardinal/Air nature would be: Rose Quartz, Chiastolite, Lepidolite, Moonstone, Tourmalinated Quartz, Azurite/Malachite.  Libra could use a little more

Rose Quartz, Chiastolite, Lepidolite, Moonstone, Tourmalinated Quartz, Azurite/Malachite

Rose Quartz, Chiastolite, Lepidolite, Moonstone, Tourmalinated Quartz, Azurite/Malachite

Tourmalinated Quartz is a GREAT  stone for Libra since it combines the grounding, anti-negativity energy of Black Tourmaline with the high vibration, amplifying energy of Clear Quartz. A great grounder/energizer combo for the Libra always seeking that balance.

Naturally, I recommend the Grounding Stones for Libra and maybe they can double down on them.

Black Tourmaline, Obsidian, Hematite, Smoky Quartz, Snowflake Obsidian

Odds and Ends, Doings and Happenings

I saw this post first thing this morning and it brought tears to my eyes, how I love our friends who live in the ocean!

An Orchestra Brings Whales To The Surface

This weekend I went to see one of my oldest friends with one of my other oldest friends in the lovely CT shore town of Niantic.  My friend Jon lives about a half mile from the ocean and right next to Rocky Neck State Park.  We had a beautiful day and spent a little time at the beach.

After that we went somewhere funky called The Dinosaur Place, but focused on the Shops – namely the Rock and Mineral shop and the bead shop! I pretty much stayed within budget at both places and picked up some tumbled crystals I’ve never really worked with before, I look forward to getting to know Mangano Calcite and Peruvian Pink Opal.

Last week I started a six week Intro to Herbalism course at Twin Star Herbal Education in New Milford, CT.  I learned a great deal about three very common and plentiful medicinal plants: Nettle, Red Clover, and Dandelion.  I tasted teas made from all three of them – and learned how intensely nutritious Nettles are.  Our teacher said that if we drank Nettle Tea every day for a week we’d feel different, so I decided to take that challenge.  I have to say that after 5 days of drinking three cups of Nettle tea a day, I sleep better, my skin is clearing up, my digestive system has been working swimmingly: I’m a believer!

This week we get to harvest some wild herbs in the field, I’m looking forward to it despite being kind of a cream-puff when it comes to outdoor/yard work.  However, I took this class because I hope to change that.  I live in a state with four seasons, with lush, fertile growth, with three and a half acres of woods behind my house and a little stream.  Growing up, I was ALWAYS outside and never wanted to be inside: what happened to that girl? I want to be her again.
