Gemini – The Sad Clown Who Never Shuts Up

G

If you were born between May 22 and June 20, then you lucky thing, you are a Gemini.

Lucky? How can you be lucky when half the time I tell someone I’m a Gemini I see them cringe and I feel like I have to jump in and say, “I’m not like the others! I have a Cancer Moon and a Virgo rising!”  Why do they cringe/wince about Geminis? I have NO IDEA, we’re FRIGGIN’ DELIGHTFUL.

OK, Seriously.  Geminis are one of the three “dual signs” in the Zodiac.  The other two are Pisces and Scorpio (which you will hear more about when I get to them).  Gemini has many facets to their personalities and can seem like they’re two (or more) different people.

There is the side of Gemini that is vivacious and upbeat,  intensely curious about everything.  Some Geminis want to suck up as much knowledge as possible and then turn around and share it with everybody they meet.  They’re excellent teachers of almost any subject in which they’re passionately interested. They very observant and are natural storytellers.  They are lightly flirtatious and use wit and humor to try to charm everyone from their boss to the ice cream man, and can find something in common with people from all walks of life.  They are totally motivated by curiosity and wanting to experience everything they possibly can.  Geminis can lack focus because there are so many things they are interested in, so many new things to learn.  Yes, Gemini can gossip – but it’s not out of malicious glee all the time -sometimes it’s just because it’s a VERY entertaining story!

Then there is the other side to Gemini — intense, deep, chaotic with emotions, and unprotected from the collective pain of the world.  The flip side to finding the humor in everything is seeing the painful truth in everything – when Gemini is depressed, they are REALLY depressed.  Sometimes they need a hand getting out of the hole but would rather die than ask for help because THEY KNOW EVERYTHING, they think, so they think they should be able to rouse their natural energy and get themselves out of it.

Some Geminis CHOOSE to keep things superficial and deny their emotions because it’s just SO MUCH EASIER.  It’s hard for a Gemini to be taken seriously when everyone is used to their clown side, and it can make people uncomfortable when they finally see behind the red nose and juggling and see the self-doubt, the pessimism, the dark sadness that can seem endless – so Gemini rarely shows this side because other people’s reactions almost feel like rejection and they can’t bear it – but they can’t bear just being the clown all the time either.

The only way you’ll ever know the deeper side of Gemini is if you are a true and trusted friend, if a Gemini is ever telling you dark truths about their life without joking about it, you are in their inner circle.  Be careful once you’re there, though – they’ve trusted you with their truth and now are vulnerable, and they hate that.  Use it against them at your peril.  Since they’re so observant, they can find your own vulnerabilities and verbally cut you to shreds if you’ve hurt them, or as the drag queens say, “Read you to FILTH”.  If you’ve hurt a Gemini, they may forgive you but they will never deeply invest in you emotionally again – once you’ve lost their trust it’s extremely difficult to completely get it back.

May’s traditional birthstone is Emerald and June is Pearl — both of these stones enhance Gemini energy as well as Agate, Aquamarine, Chrysoprase, Citrine, Green Tourmaline, and Tiger Eye.

Gemini needs grounding stones DESPERATELY — they can get all up in their head and forget where they are.

To balance Gemini’s frenetic mental energy, I like to double up on grounding stones, but also add a little fire for motivation (Garnet, Sunstone, Pink Tourmaline) and water to help connect the heart and mind so they’re not operating at cross-purposes.  Gemini thinks they can talk themselves out of their feelings when they should be working WITH them, not against them: Rose Quartz, Larimar, Lepidolite and Rainbow Moonstone.  Lepidolite has the extra benefit of containing lithium in it – great to soothe frazzled nerves and quiet the mind.  I also think it’s beneficial for Gemini — and really, everybody — to wear or carry Pyrite.

Pyrite is a very protective stone that wards off negativity and physical danger, it boosts positive energy, physical strength, and enhances self-esteem while reducing anxiety, soothing the nervous system.

Something else that can benefit Gemini (and everybody, too) is Earthing. I cannot wait until the ground warms up enough for me to take my shoes off and walk around my yard!
